Description
Master Mateo and his workshop. Ca. 1200. Granite
Among the different elements and fragments that have been recovered from the outer façade of the Portico of Glory, there is a set consisting of five pieces, each one framed by half a rosette on each side with a semicircular arch in the centre sheltering an angel bust with spread wings that either extends a phylactery or makes arm gestures, or even carries a closed book in his hands.
These pieces, which are exhibited in sequence in the Cathedral Museum, have been identified as part of the eaves that ran horizontally through the intermediate level of the façade of the Portico on its cover.
