The pieces of the two holy founders of the mendicant Orders, who would play an important role in the care of pilgrims and in Compostela with their respective convents of Saint Francis and Saint Dominic, this one located in the place of Bonaval next to the city entrance of the Way of Santiago, are the pieces of the ensemble from Don Lope de Mendoza’s oratory that have been attributed to the silversmith Vicente Flamengo. In this case, the image of Saint Dominic, who would have gone on pilgrimage to Compostela in 1219, is identified by its clear attributes typical of his iconographic representations: the Dominican habit, the star on his forehead, the quill in his right hand, and the church on the left.
